November is Kansas Reads to Preschoolers month. Try to find some time this month to read aloud a favorite book to your favorite preschooler. We have tons of children’s books. We probably even have your favorite childhood books. Who remembers Little Golden Books? Come browse our selection. We promise they will bring back the memories.
We would like to take this time to remind everyone of just some of the services we offer here at the library. Of course, we check out books and movies, but we also have two different on-line apps for reading and viewing, Libby and Hoopla. Like all library services they are free to use. We have a selection of science educational kits that can be checked out and explored at home. These give homeschooled students the hands-on experiences that they would have at a school. We offer free computer access to anyone in the community even if you don’t have a library card. We charge nominal fees for printing and copying in black and white or color. We have a fax machine and a laminator. We have a gaming system for anyone who wishes to use it. The library has a private meeting space or quiet area for study. This has proven popular with students who need to use their school computers to complete homework because we have free wi-fi access. We have a computer projector and screen available to groups who need to give computer presentations. We have a quick charge station for phones that will quickly charge any type of small device. Our children’s area has a variety of toys and puzzles that encourage creative play and a maker station where little ones can color, cut, glue, and create! We really try to have something for everyone. If you have an idea of anything else you would like to see, let us know.
In looking forward to the Holiday Season, we are thrilled that we will once again host the Angel Tree. This program allows every child in our community to have presents to open on Christmas morning. We will be contributing two gift bags for the Christmas parade/give-away in December. If anyone has clever ideas for themes, stop by and share. In the spirit of giving that comes with this season, we want to remind people that we are a drop-off site for food donations for Ruby Lee’s Kitchen. Take care everyone and see you at the library!
